From Pine Magazine: This Thursday we end our 21-month residency at the Star Bar, and we’re really excited about the bands that are playing:

The Wild: The celebratory storytelling and punk-folksy delivery of this three-piece makes you wonder how such clean guitars could get your body shaking so hard. The Wild are a lot of fun, and their approach, defiant in a Bob Dylan sort of way, should give kids everywhere the feeling that they can make a difference in the world, no matter how bad things get in the interim.

This Piano Plays Itself: Reverb-heavy with a hint of shoe gaze, This Piano Plays Itself has become increasingly popular over the last year, and here’s your chance to see why.

Night Moves Gold: Check out our interview with this yacht rock-ish band here.

Tealights: Using a variety of instruments — keyboards, a cello, guitar, bass, a flute, synthesizers and others — Tealights’ sound is a heavier sort of neo-Classical that borders on industrial.

Justin Hughes (Glen Iris, ex-Batata Doce, ex-Rock*a*Teens) and our friend DJ Press Play are on hand to get you dancing, and our good friends from the Other Sound music fest are selling CDs and tickets for the big September 19 show. That show — which lasts all day in Little Five Points — will be awesome. We might be a little biased because we’re one of the sponsors, but think that — with bands like Book of Colors, the Selmanaires and Los Buenos — it’ll be a lot of fun.

Our Star Bar series started with Soundlab 84, ISP and Pine back in January 2008 and, since then, more than 100 bands have played our free First Thursday shows, including: T Model Ford, Missile Command, Club Awesome, Hollow Stars, Hawks, Lay Down Mains, Deleted Scenes, Surfer Blood, Gold Standard, Thy Mighty Contract and many, many, many others. Many. It’s been a lot of fun.

As always, this week’s show is as free as can be. Come support these kick ass bands and the Star Bar. Show starts at 10 prompt.
